Production of Prefabricated Beams for Underground Car Park

The Shazar Car Park is a 5-level underground facility built as part of the “Shahar HaBira” project at the entrance to Jerusalem. Developed for the Jerusalem Development Corporation, it offers 1,400 parking spaces for users of the Binyanei HaUma railway station, the Egged Central Bus Station, and the adjacent commercial complex.

Ashcrete is behind the process of preparing and casting 28 gigantic prefabricated beams weighing 260 tonnes each constituting the basis for the parking levels. The beams were manufactured at a field plant set up by Ashcrete on the construction site, with 5 beams delivered in each production run. Following tensioning of the beams in the field, they were lifted and mounted in their new position on top of two walls specially erected for this purpose. Ashcrete manufactured beams having a total weight of 7,280 tonnes.
