Bridge Construction by the Balanced Cantilever Method

The Kibbutz Galuyot Bridge, also known as the Heil HaShiryon Bridge, was erected in the 90s in southern Tel Aviv as part of Highway 20 (Ayalon Highway) and effectively extended the Ayalon Highway southwards towards the city of Holon.

Kibbutz Galuyot Bridge was the first segmented bridge to have been constructed by Ashcrete, which specialises in the manufacture of industrialised segments for bridge span construction. The bridge was built by the balanced cantilever method - construction and assembly of the bridge using industrialised concrete elements of various sizes, obviating the need for mould creation and metalwork operations in the building site area.

The industrialised elements were manufactured at the Ashcrete plant in Ashdod by the short production line technique, and were assembled on site using a dedicated gantry crane - a lifting and raising device for particularly heavy loads.
